Innocent Casualty Of A D***swinging Contest

Born into abuse,
Topsy was a fighter, an
Elephant, noble,
Majestic, and serene, who
Lashed out in anger
At the inhumane humans
Who beat and starved her,
Leaving three deserving dead
Trainers in her wake.
Though justice still wasn't served
As 'Whitey' Alt,
Notorious for being
A vile zoosadist,
Attempted to force-feed a
Burning cigarette
To this beautiful creature.
And her reaction,
Though clearly warranted, led to
Her designation
As recalcitrant, berserk,
Without pulling up
The veil to make known Topsy's
Torment at the hands
Of unchecked trainers wielding
Violence throughout
Her life, selected to be
Electrocuted
By Tommy Edison in
A d***swinging contest
With Tesla. Topsy's gruesome
Death was paraded
All over the country as
A film wittily
Titled 'Electrocuting
An Elephant.' At
Least what can be said about
Orwell is that he
Felt revulsion in killing
The elephant in Burma.
