Something you gain. And lose something. Great philosophy in just four lines
Succinctness has not been a forte of mine. I'm striving to reach it through my poetry. THX for your positivity, Kesav!
Life takes away the innocence. Time is ruthless. Sad reality articulated well.
What we do with that innocence over the course of our lives is what matters. Time can make or destroy us. Nosheen, THX for your insightful comments and positive appraisal.
The natural childlike innocence and spiritual wisdom of a Gerard Kerouac has been eroded over the course of time. We only experience guilt if we haven't learned from that innocence.

I gradually lost my innocence and accepted Darwin's concept of survival of fittest in letter and spirit.
I'll take Gerard Kerouac's concept of spirituality and wisdom. And he was only 9 years old when he died. Some had believed that he was a bona fide saint. I guess that I'm an optimistic pacifist!
Moreover, I had to learn some tricks from this sophisticated society to earn my bread and butter....part 2
I was very fortunate to have had some great teachers which eventually led to my professions as counsellor and clinical hypnotherapist.
This poem reminds of my childhood days when I was so innocent. I was eating in my parents hotel and using my father's purse and enjoying things recklessly. However, I was innocent then. As I grew up. gradually I lost my innocence....part 1
I gradually lost mine innocence in fighting the hypocrisy that I was witnessing in my religion. Stopped going to church, but became much more spiritual...to this very day!
