Inexplicable Poem by Jonathan H. Scott

Inexplicable

Every day is the same as the day before.
The sun rises and the sun sets.
The flow and ebb of life goes on.
The seasons change as they always do.
The winter solstice comes, and the holidays,
And a chill covers the land.
The hills and the forests are at rest.
Winter finally releases its grip with one last snowfall
As its cold and gray silence melts into spring.
Nature stirs—then wakes.
All is abuzz!
The rain comes, and spring blooms into summer.
The days grow longer… and warmer.
A gentle breeze caresses the wild meadow.
The stars above streak nightly across the sky.
Then, as if through a tinted glass,
The landscape turns vivid red and gold, then mellows
As summer settles into a cozy fall, and the days grow shorter.
The trees let loose their leaves,
And another day begins and a night comes—
And so follow all the days and nights thereafter.
Yet, behind it all, unseen,
The inexplicable is at work.
Suddenly! time stands still—
All possibilities emerge before one's eyes.
Every feature and every hue,
Every shadow and every reflection
Combine in form finer than the masters could create.
The smile—and the gaze—and the gesture
Reveal the very heart and soul of her.
You know heaven exists
Because, for a moment,
God shared a glimpse of her:
A glimpse of what heaven must be.
