In Canada we had the problem of residential schools, Native children were forcibly taken away from their parents and taught to live in a more civilized life under the approval of the catholic church, of course this civilized life also taught abuse, physical, mental and sexual, and resulted in the unrecorded deaths of some 3000 children.
