And as our nation woke up at dawn today,
our people inhaled the same fragrance of freedom,
the same aroma of independence
that prevailed in our country seventy five years ago.
Our nation sang aloud our song of patriotism
as we hoisted our national flag everywhere
with reverence and gratitude so fundamental;
our peoples' hearts rejoiced and reverberated
with joy and happiness which only an Indian
could feel in his or her veins so profoundly.
And as our people celebrated this day
with our tricolor flag flying on every rooftop,
our people remembered the history of the long
and winding route of the freedom struggle;
our people always so thankful to our leaders-
Gandhiji, Nehru and to all those who strived
to make our country free from bondage.
And as our sense of unity runs parallel
with our diversities and our dreams,
our past and present rolls like a sea wave
embracing each other's existence like an ocean
that is full of positive energy and enthusiasm
as our nation keeps enhancing our solidarity
and harmony amongst us
whether we are rich or poor.
whether we are educated or uneducated
whether we live in a castle or a hutment.
Long live our nation and our unity
long live our soldiers of democracy
long live our warriors of justice.
long live our families of unanimity
long live our hearts of bravery
long live our nation of ceaseless humanity.
