India Cricket Team- A Paean

ENGLAND-INDIA TEST SERIES
- - - - - - - - - - - - -
the ordeal ends
sighs of relief all around
youth shone as a trend

the aging, horror
bat and ball nothing favored
staring exit door

captain stayed upfront
his bat bore brunt and blunted
marshal, hope he learnt

pace deserves paeans
Sharma, Bumrah and Shami
dazed England's doyens

to our young boys - wow!
Pant, Hanuma and Rahul
made merry- we love

a steep learning curve
loss-no shame; England better
hats off to boys' verve

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
India Cricket Team lost a gruelling test series in England. Loss is no shame, specially against a superior team. But our young captain Virat Kohli and the younger players like Rahul, Pant and Hanuma Vihari and our pacemen Ishant Sharma, Bumrah and Shami, have performed brilliantly. There is hope that this team, plus a few more youngsters like Prithvi Shaw etc (who didn't get a chance to play) , will achieve much glory in the international arena!
paean-song of praise or triumph
marshal-verb-to bring together or organize people or things
in order to achieve a particular aim: Cambridge Dictionary
verve-great energy and enthusiasm- -, , -
