I like in this poem what was the heart of the loss - it's unexplained abruptness. That's so truthful. We cross paths with people briefly, just long enough to know they matter to us and WHOOOSH they're gone. You capture that disorientation of the sudden reversal of comfortable expectation. I felt it too through the poem. When I read the prose comment it fleshed out the poem, made the disappearance understandable. But the poem is naked: no explanation, no accomodation.
