WOW this is par excellence the Dramatic Monologue! I remember in high school being confused the first time I read Browning's MY LAST DUCHEES because the plot seemed to reveal murder but the tone of voice as so cool and detached I couldn't make the leap of understanding. No such problem here. You know your theme, you adopted a single tone and nail your assessment to the wall for all to see! But I'm cool ad detached from politics. I used to watch Bill Moyers' shows on PBS and get all riled up on Friday evenings, but now I focus on literature exclusively. But I acknowledge the thoroughness of your critique. But in the past, not recently, I have heard young women, obviously not my peers, express such gratitude and faith in Hillary. I don't take Hillary seriously but two of these young women I take very seriously. So I'm puzzled by the mismatch in attitudes towards her. Are those young women deluded by her feminist allure? Are they blinded to the realities of power-seeking you reveal by a feminist need for a hero to inspire them? I am certain of one bitter truth: the best Americans do not seek political office: think of it: Emerson, Thoreau, Hawthorne, Margaret Fuller, all those great Americans and not even one of them sought political office. Instead charlatans and scoundrels ran and got elected.
