My computer smirked and locked herself up in every possible way to lock a computer up . In the morning I strolled into my den singing la-di-dah-di-dah over and over again . until I found to my surprise that I had been most unwise..........so touching and amusing. A beautiful poem that attracts the readers to read over and over again and for which this is my second visit.

I am glad you enjoy this piece of humor- -I was really cranky and scowly when I sat down to write a belly-aching poem about this event but my weird sense of humor kicked in and I write this instead and it was so much fun to write I wrote myself into a good mood! ! !

Keep spreading that sunshine despite that annoying bride of Satan! This was fun. We've all had those technical moments that bring out our inner best! :) Thanks for sharing Susan.

It was laugh or give the blasted thing a heave-ho through the window! Writing a poem infused with humor seemed a cheaper way of handling my frustration! ! !

I had a giggle at the image of you beating up your little computer. They do seem to have a life of their own. Oh the trials and tribulations of owning a computer. On one hand I adore the instant knowledge at my finger tips. No longer having to search reference books, take a trip to the library, or wait to talk to someone in the know. Yet my computer also drives me crazy. Today my document icon disappeared from desk top...what? ? ? ...how does that happen? . I found it of course and created another shortcut...however little things like that send me into throes of frustration.

It's a good thing the demonic machines make writing sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much easier or I'd kick 'em outta my life sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo fast! ! ! Glad you had a case of the giggles reading this- -it actually made me less frustrated and angry by writing it.

According to notifications, I received the following lovely and funny comment on this poem 3 days ago- I have never found itm If you wrote it, please let me know cuz it's a fun comment and it should be given its due. I copied this in Notification and pasted it below: Murderer! I was rolling in laughter This is the funniest, cleverest Built up murder attempt Ever sought after. So imaginative and well written I envisioned it and followed it in my mind played out on a imaginary stage. As a new theatrical form introduced and mastered, ''Computers may lead to madness and disaster.'' - ..I hope the author of this sees this plea and responds.! ! !

I can so well relate to this Susan, but can never put down my experience in writing with such sparkling sense of humor! Not being quite computer savvy, I do not know how to handle a computer if something goes out of way! Finally as in your case, either my husband or my son comes to my rescue if they are at home! If not, through some trial and error method, after many repeated futile efforts, it automatically succumbs to my wish.... may be out of sympathy....! The artificial intelligence can be sometimes sensitive to senile incompetency! Though I read it with escalating suspense, there was no tension as I expected a similar successful outcome at the end! Kudos Susan! You can handle humor also with equal panache!

I hate it when I call for help and cannot answer their first question- -they have to get their kindergarten voice on and tell me that the information they are asking for should be printed on the front of the computer. It is but then they ask question 2 and things really go south. I am so glad you found amusement in this piece- it helps me to try for humor [it lowers my blood pressure! ]. Thank you for your very complimentary comments!

Lounging lazily and reading this with joy. Understanding but still longing for the R rated version of unprintable epitaphs I will telly you this as all of those who know me understand so well. Day one when I retire I will finally make that trip to the fantasy river of my day dreams and perhaps with long tug from a bottle of wine and maybe even a drag of a cigar I will launch my computer into the river. I have seen that splash a thousand times in my mind followed by a smaller plop of the phone not far behind. So to read this 21st century tale of a woman and Miss Computer brought big grins over here. The black eye and a boot to the motherboard were hilarious and yes I too am glad that you finally succeeded in your techno-struggle. How else could I know of this epic tale? 10+

Ha! ! ! ! I love the watery death of your computer and phone! But take pity on the fishes and toads.... those phones cannot be destroyed these days.... so the telemarketers will be setting off its ringtones every few minutes driving the fishes and the toads to leaping out of the water in the search for peace and quiet. But I read your comment out loud to Miss Computer and I think she is seeing that stream from another angle - -I could have sworn I heard a frightened GLUB GLUB GLUB! Thank you for giving me something to hold over her head and thank you for the 10 and most of all I am so glad you enjoyed! ! !

True- -I would not like to go back to the dinosaur days of pen and paper. However, there are newer computers out there, Miss Computer, so better behave. Had fun with this one and so pleased that other writers are enjoying a laugh or two reading this. Thanks for reading and commenting, my sweet friend.

Susan, This is brilliant....so well done. I've read and reread this work several times, and finally noticed each couplet can stand as its own story, its own poem...

I am glad this bit of fun pleased you! It is nice to think I put a smile on people's faces and perhaps instigated a rebellion against ornery computers. Slap 'em silly is my motto! .

Theo, one of the best things we can do on earth is to make our friends' journey through life better. There are a lot of ways to do this, humor is one. I do verbal humor well enough but written humor? ? ? That is harder to do... but if I brought you to laughing out loud, my day is rewarded! ! Miss your bright face and joyful words dancing around this site you know!

Hi Susan, This sounds very interesting. Happened with me many times. I have always considered my computer to be a feminist, who refuses to obey the commands of a man. I could understand that. But, fails to understand why she would refuse Susan? Very nicely put. Humorous enough to keep the reader rooted. I have always known that Susan has got a funny bone. Now I realise I was right. Well done Susan.

Thank you, kind sir! Humor is the very hardest thing to write- -most of us feel it but cannot convey it. I had fun with this- - I had a lot of irritation to write out of my system and it did put me in a better frame of mind. I hope that those who read it get a smile or two out of it. If so, then it was worth posting. As far as I can tell, all computers are she-devils out to corrupt our language and instill murder in our hearts.

I am so pleased you enjoyed this. I prefer being humorous in my messages to friends and such but to write piece of humor as a piece of literature..... that is a difficult thing to do and I have a long way to go to do it well. However, if this piece got a chuckle out of my readers, or an out loud laugh, I will be very well-pleased.indeed! Thank you for joining me in a relaxing chuckle or two, my friend.

The wiles, and moods of technology. Susan have you got any hair left?

Susan Williams 07 September 2016

My hair, my hair, my beautiful hair- -I have pulled it out by the handfuls! This is the mark of people who live and die by the computer. For all its irritations, I would never go back to paper and pen to do my writing!
