In War; The Battle Poem by Christopher Cariad

In War; The Battle

There I was at the inception of this war,
something unimaginable
that felt so impregnable.
This prologue to the very end
foreshadowed this laudable battle.
The guns firing in the air
bolstered this intrepid stand
against this coalition
that evoked ferocity.
In these fields
of death and heartache.
Killing these martyr's
that gracefully stood full faced.
Standing there
watching
these poor souls fall,
friends of mine
who have lost it all.
In this war, so greatly fought
I ready my weapon
to forward position.
Avenging those lost,
for the families,
that will never see those they loved
I asserted my drive to victory.
Forwarding past the bullets path
to raising our colors up high
ending the war, that claimed many lives.
Bringing peace to a world
where destruction carried hopelessness.
Leaving the adamant warriors
forever known throughout our history
as the great ones
who gave it all for this victory.
