In Vain Poem by Ima Ryma

The dictionary says 'in vain'
Means without successful result.
So if I live for worldly gain,
Whether easy or difficult,
Then do I live in vain or not?
If I break hearts of others so
I've more success in what I've sought,
More money made to tell and show
If I cause others pain to get,
Then is not my life a success?
I don't feel why I should regret,
But way down deep i must confess -

Maybe a living success, I
Will go in vain the day I die.
