In Time Poem by Kelly Batson

In Time

Rating: 4.5

Here I stand behind wondering eyes
Oblivious to the contagious view
I‘ve forgotten how it feels to feel
Tangled in empty memories
Thirsting for some satisfaction
While drowning in my condemnations
Taming every lingering self-sacrifice

The first kiss always says the most
And a memory can’t just be erased
I know this because I’ve tried
Face fears that you’re afraid to meet
And surrender your guard you’ve kept so dear
Abandoning a sanctuary you’ve lived to depend upon
And find peace in the only comfort you will
Hiding in your cave beyond your dreams

This will be the last time I gasp for breath
You’ve held me captive for long enough
The story of my life will never change
I believe it was all over before it even began
Delay the complicated words of your overcast
In time I will learn what was right and what was wrong
