In Their Hands Poem by Lady HaHa

In Their Hands

Rating: 5.0

Tall and proud, they stand
like royals overlooking their unending
kingdom.
Eons have passed, yet can never tell
as grace and youth still behold them.
Power and might
in immortal awe
feared yet loved
by the mortal world.
Known by many names,
infamous
from the beggining of time.
We look up to them
as they look
down
upon us.
Holding our lives in their hands.
We pray that their power may be shown in mercy and kindness,
That we she shall not perish like pawns
in their immortal games,
yet be the kings and queens
on their heavenly chess board
until they say
check mate.

A good metaphor, almost as old as chess itself. You should read C.S. Lewis's fantasy novel, The Great Divorce. It has something for you. Keep writing. :)
