In The Name Of The People Poem by Ali Farah

In The Name Of The People

Failed leaders shun accountability,
Deny blame with impunity.
Critics labeled as foes of the state,
Traitors, unpatriotic, tools of hate.

'In the name of the people, ' they proclaim,
While the people suffer beneath their shame.
Their poor judgment, a heavy cost,
A nation betrayed, its future lost.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Failed leaders often shy away from accountability and refuse to accept blame for their mishandling of national affairs. It is their hallmark to discredit anyone who questions their actions or highlights the flaws in their policies. Such leaders frequently resort to proclamations like, " In the name of the people I represent, anyone who dares to criticize my shortcomings will be branded unpatriotic, a traitor, and accused of working for the enemies of the state." How ironic it is to invoke " the people" - the very individuals victimized by their poor judgment, as a shield for their failings.
