In The Know
Doctors are supposed to be your friends
The contradictions are glaring
They can be the bearer of the worst news
When they look you straight in the eye
To tell you that you are terminal
Some of them seem to have developed a side effect
A sadistic tendency to smile when they drop the bomb
Perhaps in my imagination
It's the like the dry humour i meet at police stations
There in the charge office is a sticker written in bold
'Police are your friend'
Really?
Everytime i have been at the police stations i was roughed up
Traumatised even.
So, i am at the neurosurgeon
An MRI was done to my brain, neck and back
And i have come for my review
Doctors are supposed to be your friends
So i hope if the news is bad he will be friendly enough to let me know
It's better to be in the know
Than not to know
Whatever happens the poems will write themselves.
