In The Flicker Of An Eye We Die Poem by Frank Sheehan

In The Flicker Of An Eye We Die

In the flicker of an eye we die
that's all it takes
that's all the time we have
to live on this forbidden planet

We take life for granted,
don't comprehend it's fleetness
think we'll be around forever
But that's far from the truth

We're only here for a moment,
a speck on the history of time,
a flashing light in darkness.
Yes life is short

So we must make the best of it.
Try to make an impression,
leave something lasting
to override the brevity.

Live decently with faith and integrity
with a passion for goodness
that brightens the sky
like a lighthouse's beacon.
