In The Dark Poem by Rachael Flint

In The Dark

Weighted sigh,
She lifts her hand
Cradles her head.
Erasing her thoughts
Soothing her mind.
Blackness creeps in at the edge.
Encompassing. Endless.
Effort from fighting
Forgotten now.
Wars with the day
Aching face
Smile abandoned by the mirror.
Gritty Tears stain the pillow.
Silently she pulls back
Her weary hand
And lets in the dark.
