In The Beginning Poem by Leanne Brigoli

In The Beginning

It all started like this:
We chose the gap the moment we rebelled against You.
We chose to be severed the moment we sabotaged the order of Your creation.
Sin and shame veiled our faces—
Guilt loomed, and the grave awaited.
And cursed was the ground
for what we have done.
