You have asked a challenging question here. I cannot answer it without a ton of thought and perhaps a definitive answer- a yea or a nay- would be a betrayal of the intelligence of the question... it being a question that makes us explore ourselves with truth being the objective. 10++++++++++++++++++ and onto my fav list

Thank you, Susan. It is a question I still ask...I have yet to find a satisfying answer.

If one part of our body fails, don't think that all is lost. There are other parts, still functional. Make use of them and enjoy life. Some people have such a strong drive augmented by a positive attitude that they easily scale over all adversities of life. But some start grumbling over the minor deformities and setbacks and lose all zest for life. If we have a strong will, despite all hurdles, we can still shape our life! I find this as one of your best poems!

So much appreciated, Valsa. Thank you. And you just had me recall that sometimes the greatest barriers or hurdles are internal.

Undoubtedly, a humanitarian poet who so perfectly catered for us the trauma and sadness of certain disable states of life. I was almost there. I see my picture in this poem. Thanks for highlighting and well penning on syndromes and symptoms of the disability of humans. Very deep but so easy to acknowledge your poetic contribution. Stay blessed!

Hi M.J. Lemon. Nice poem on some hard moments. where whether a man meditate on plus on minus. and a year in such condition may be equal to about decades of normal days... So we may consider here the theory of relativity.

That is a remarkable perspective, Muhammad. And perhaps a year of intense difficulties can compel time to draw out. Thanks so much for reading.

(continued... as i cant comment more than 300 words) But its about our attitude to keep surviving and enjoying or to lament of losing.. if today break my day...i will still start for next day...because if i dont, my world will be bitter or tasteless...to feel heart broken to make us either sober and braver..or lost in the pain... its about attitude... but sometimes helping hand may lead us toward better road...so to keep hands hold with people we love is very important..

The feeling of everything, that spark by sensory and perceptions may create a mirage to mind...it build desires, it build idea... its like tasting same food but not enjoying it again. But its about our attitude to keep surviving and enjoying or to lament of losing.. if today break my day...i will still start for next day...because if i dont, my world will be bitter or tasteless...

In essence what I get from this work is what would you do if you lived life as a vegetable, a fragment of yourself never able to reach out and live, but even a boulder has substance, and if its a choice between that or the absence of substance then I choose the former. A provocative work M.J., leaves an impression that's inspiring me to think about this.

Kevin, absolutely. I was thinking of that possibility. Living life as a vegetable, no matter the circumstances, can make one an agent far less effective than any inanimate object- a stone, a pebble, a boulder. I think the most powerful means of attaining a state of passivity (despair?) is to resolve through will to make that the reality.

Most people go about life thinking of the minutiae, until there confronted with things they never thought would happen, like finding they or a loved one has a terminal illness and then things are put into perspective. This poem puts things into perspective I have forgotten to see.

That is a difficult question- -if I cannot move I cannot write my books or poetry nor tell a tape recorder what I would have written- I could watch my loved ones' faces, see the horses at play in the pastures, watch birds carrying nest-building materials to the huge evergreen tree.- - - I could manage with sight and sound for a year or two. Gee, M.J., how to get people thankful for what they've got- - - - - - - - - - - excellent thought-provoking poem as usual! 10+++..

Thank you, Susan. Yes, partly what inspired this was the question about dealing with new realities, any difficulties, any sudden change in circumstances. I am somewhat surprised by people who just keep answering, " I don't know." Thanks again.

Every organ in the body has specialty. Every memory has own beauty and eyes can even see everything even if we do not move. Throat has experience of swallowing. Rocks stand with courage and we should learn this value. This poem is very excellently penned with positive effectiveness. The message you have transferred through this poem is a power pill to heal illness and disability....10

There are people unshaken before hurdles. They are strong as rocks that shape themselves! They never get shaken by the wind that blows! But edema can kill! They lose the zest for life! There are people bedridden for life, unable to move. But some have a heart as strong as rocks within them and they conquer their disability through sheer will power! A powerful poem with an indirect message. A 10

Thank you so much, Valsa. Yes, I had seen this poem as something that could be taken literally or purely metaphysically. Some people freeze in life when confronted by invisible hurdles. Others are struck down by literal rocks. There are so many who panic at the slightest inconvenience, describing these kinds of things as cataclysms...Thank you again, Valsa.
