Hmmm... The word a-t-h-e-i-s-t has a limited, precise meaning, a-theist, not a theist. A theist believes the godhead is manifested in a personal GOD, a deist believes the godhead manifest as an impersonal force. An atheist is a desist. But the word has atheism has become so polluted by negatives connotations, it can means all kinds of things to theists that make an atheist unwelcome company. In your poem you conclude by a biblical passage that makes atheists fools, so even their human intelligence is withdrawn. And atheists are expected to know everything before they can verify the non-existence of God: First error, atheists choose a different definition of God, they do not deny spiritual reality in total, for example deists like Jefferson, Adams, Paine, et alia or pantheists; Second error, Human beings are limited beings. If GENESIS is true, then the God you worship MADE us limited beings with all of the suffering and anguish that follows from those limitations, but then you probably blame humanity for all of this suffering because of the folktale of Adam and Eve puts the cosmic weight of a three million year old species on humanity. I would think three million + years of human existence with all of its
challenge, pain, brief glory would have redeemed us from the offense of two naive kids in paradise who ate a piece of fruit. OOPs you probably don't accept evolutionary science, but such science gives atheists a 15-billion -year vista of cosmic history you deny. And your example of Julius Caesar takes us only about two thousands year into THAT DARK BACKWARD AND ABYSM OF TIME.(Shakespeare) . But I don't call you a fool for your beliefs or mock the set of facts you assemble along with traditional stories and customs: your faith is a noble and lasting creed of knowledge, custom and creativity which you see as a source of truth, goodness and beauty. It binds people into a community of caring individuals who an agape love for God, each other and the world's people. I acknowledge this about the consequences of your THEISTIC BELIEFS. Why can't you find the same
same respect for my ATHEISTIC BELIEFS? I do not want to be misdefined, misrepresented, mocked as a fool.
So confronted I will use all my knowledge and integrity to affirm the wisdom that I find in my heart's core and mind's web.
I might add that part of what you have said is wrong if the definition given in the Merriam-Webster dictionary is correct because it defines theism as the belief that God exists or that many gods exist.
The last point I wish to make is clearly my poem is my opinion of what it means to be an atheist. It is my opinion, and you certainly have a right to disagree with it. But it is in no way an attack on any particular person who is an atheist. For a retired teacher you certainly are lacking in reading comprehension because you have tried to make out this is a personal attack on you. How could it be I don't even know you! Finally, you came on my site, and I have no problem with that, I did not antagonize you directly, so why misconstrue what has happened. I have friends who are atheists and I don't berate them for their beliefs, and they don't berate me for mine, we are willing to live and let live. If I had personally attacked a person who was an atheist or you in particular, you have a legitimate point. Otherwise, your intrusion onto my site is just a provocation on your part.

Agnostics are more honest and intelligent about their beliefs.
