In My Dreams Poem by John Yaws

In My Dreams

I sit here over coffee,
And I think about the past.
Of plans we made by telephone
I knew they could not last.

Of dreams which quickly vanished-
Like the sunlight dries the dew-
The gentle cadence of your voice...
I'm surely missing you.

But in my dreams you're smiling
And holding out your arms-
I take you to me gently-
And revel in your charms...

I hear you say, 'I love you'-
And, My, how real it seems.
You'll always be my darling
As you live on in my dreams.

I guess if it is make-believe-
We should go all the way...
I somehow have the feeling...
that it's our wedding day-

I'll carry you so gently-
In the moonlight's silvery beams...
This night will last forever-
You are living in my dreams.
