In My Bed Poem by Randy McClave

In My Bed

Sleeping alone the whole bed is all mine
There is no imaginary boundary or property line,
I can sleep on the left or on the right or in the middle
To find where I sleep there is no guessing or riddle.
The pillows are all mine as well
That's another fact that I will happily boast and tell,
I can place them all underneath my head
Or I can place them under my feet or underneath my back instead.
My covers I never have to share
They're all mine to keep me warm from the cold air,
And no one is ever trying to take or steal any them
And no one is hitting or kicking me in the back with their limb.
If I want I can sleep either on my side or on my back
That is of course whenever I want to hit the sack,
And no one ever complains to me whenever I snore
Never do I need anti-snoring nose clips from the store.
At either end of my bed I can even go to sleep
And if I want I can count beautiful women instead of sheep,
Also if I want to I can dive in my bed like a cannonball
Of course it's whatever that I want, it's always my call.
In my bed if I want or need to I can freely toss and turn
I can do whatever my body and brain does yearn,
And if I want I can talk to myself while I am trying to snooze
And of course it's whatever I finally choose.
When I'm in my bed I feel as if I'm alone floating on the ocean
I close my eyes as I pretend to feel the motion,
When I'm in my bed I am so very dominant and free
Because, when I'm in my bed it's only me.
