In Memory Of Peanut, The Cat Poem by Nosheen Irfan

In Memory Of Peanut, The Cat

Rating: 5.0

How far you seem
Your eyes retreating in the dark
Two blazing bulbs backing off
As if trying to hide their light
In eons of eternity
But why are your eyes still calling?

How near you seemed
Your voice clamouring for food
Insistent urgent plea of craving
Sensing the smell with nostrils
Savouring the taste before chewing
But why is your mouth frozen?

How free you seem
From all wanting
Your tongue no more smoothing out
Your honey golden hair
Your eyes no longer prying for a prey
You want nothing
You demand nothing.
