Rating: 5.0

Do you care
If I'm dead
Your shadow
Following
Your lost son
'til he was
So reborn

Dillip, you've added yet another poem from The Kerouac Project to your favourites. More steam to get mine engine running faster! THX so very much!

My esteemed poet, on one level, you are correct. But the poem is far from being just about reincarnation. It's more about the love/hate relationship between Jack Kerouac and his mother. And that was largely as a result of the tragic very early death of his brother Gerard.

This appears to be more about belief in rebirth which yet has no evidence
