In Gratitude Poem by Lodigiana Poetess

In Gratitude

One day we will speak of a time never planned
an invasion took place and infested our land.
It entered in silence, no weapons of war
a most deadly opponent that nobody saw.
With nothing more lethal than flimsy blue masks
our army of heroes stood up to the tasks.
They put aside self and with so few supplies
stood nursing the sick and looked death in the eyes
With resolute courage they fought night and day
not hiding inside but out leading the way
Not all of them made it, they are human too
but they gave all they had, even though they were few.
So when this time passes and life can return
let's never forget this new lesson we've learned
True heroes are angels, our saviours in blue
And this is a tribute to each one of you.
We thank you for working so hard all around us
and helping defeat this most virulent virus
You helped us have courage and see this right through
you have all our hearts, our great heroes in blue.
