A very powerful, moving and touching poem. Well expressed and crafted.
I learned the poem by heart. I frequently repeat it at VFW events. More better to memorize it.
This is one of my favorite poems. I had to learn it on 6th grade and repeat by memory.

A poet of legend. Few poems can touch the heart like this one.
A very moving representation on how Lt. Colonel John McCrae who not only fought in The Great War but was also a poet, physician, author, artist and a soldier. Canadians will never forget the valour you had and the poem, In Flanders Fields. I had to memorise this poem back in 1968 in grade five. I still remember this poem to this day. Lest We Forget.
I found this poem to be very moving, most poems settle for ok but John Mcrae is not one of them
Very moving and sad lest we forget. Must try and keep peace don't want to go there ever again.
so sad they did not live hope the children's parents don't die. : (
This poem sounds beautiful, but is in fact very unpleasant. It says we have to go on fighting because some people have died and we would be betraying them if we didn't. That would be childish if war were not so serious. But as it is, it is simply a recipe for more death and destruction.
We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved, and now we lie, In Flanders fields..................Beautiful lines
Anti-War? Lt. John McCrae fought in The Great War and wrote the representation while serving in Germany and later died of pneumonia near the end of the war in Boulogne-sur-Mer, France. He was credited for writing, In Flanders Field A poem that should be taught in all schools and memorised so children will understand what it truly means about the freedom that we have today. Lest We Forget.
