In December...(Sonnet) Poem by DM W

In December...(Sonnet)

Rating: 5.0

In December, as the snow falls to ground
With a supernatural slowness, I
Dwell in dream time where subtle sights and sounds
Abound. I can sense the wind's solemn sighs.
Yet tonight's moonlight gleams with golden hopes,
And promises, for one and all it seems.
I still yearn for things beyond mortal scope,
And sometimes, the eternal design's seeds
Plant themselves in my heart and mind. Advent
Is a wondrous time, when a blithe spirit
Of true enchantment; that is heaven sent,
Comes down to earth. O on its brief visit,
It lightens our burdens and eases our woes!
Sometimes, it can be glimpsed in the falling snow.
