Imprisoned Democracy Poem by RATIKANTA SAMAL

Imprisoned Democracy

Just an ornamental word,
Grandeur of the word grows.
Democracy smiles in the constitution;
Hardly understood the truth.
Invited guest for the country
Completely silent, no utterance
Dusty preamble, a group of helpless words;
Composition of hereditary monarchy
And bumptious dictatorship.

Heavenly hint to God to exploit the common;
Divorced judiciary,
Different to haves and haven't
By the name of democracy
Politicians spread their black empire
Helpless common people prefer monarchy
And accept the pre-independence era.

Justice and judiciary
Move their face from the common people
Offering big smile in the lips of cruel politicians;
Freedom tastes bitter and sour
Dream is in dreams today
Toilsome independence is at the door of auction.

Forgot your sacrifice and devotion
O' my dear freedom fighters and patriots
Look at your children who are on the chairs
Analyse their character and dutifulness.
How they have imprisoned democracy.
Law breakers, oppressors and plunderers
Spread their dominance.
