Immortality Poem by Leanna Stead

Immortality

Rating: 5.0

You challenged me
to believe
in immortality -
yours,
and mine -
to find
the charm of life
so fine
that I could imagine
never leaving;
could live with
never seeing
death,
never losing
breath
never greeting
friends on the other side
of life

What could I find then,
when mystery depends
on growing, changing?
When all is drained
of novelty
through forced longevity,
nothing seems strange or enchanting
anymore.

I would ask
that you never ask
this again
of me.

You still write beautifully. This flows very well
