Immortal (Pele) Poem by Raimi Babatunde

Immortal (Pele)

An immortal,
in a mortal frame.
Legendary, iconic,
yet mesmerising.

You gave us joys,
left us mementos,
how we relish your days.
Doubtless, the GOAT.

And when we surrender,
we hope they world will know,
just as a foetus knows your name.
In us all, Pele lives forever.

I see your epitaph reading,
'Edson Arantes do Nascimento,
21 years,1363 matches; 1283 goals, '
and boldly crested thereon, G.O.A.T.
