I'm OK

The accident was just last evening
When I was rear ended
And I told everyone I was OK
Even though my wife said no
I've seen you like this before

I told myself I'm alright
Tho' the next day raw edgy
Full of anger and could not stand still
As people asked
Are you OK

Finally a friend who could stand it no more
Looked me in the eye and said
If you don't calm down you'll have a heart attack
As I replied glibly
I'm OK it's just too much work

Then this morning my son concerned asked
Dad are you OK
Yes I replied
With weariness in my voice
As I felt myself withdrawing from the world

No I'm not OK
