I'm Looking Forward To Christmas! Poem by Denis Martindale

I'm looking forward one more time
To Christmas once again,
When singing carols sounds sublime
To merry gentlemen.
And there's that precious holy star,
Remembered and revered.
And every wise man who came far
Till Bethlehem they neared.

And I recall the shepherds stared,
As angels' voices rose,
As through their praises God declared
The Saviour's day He chose.
The birthday of our future Lord,
The Lamb of God indeed,
Who in His dying brought reward
To sinners in their need.

I'm looking forward one more time,
To Christmas Day, dear friends,
When Church bells praise God with each chime,
Before December ends.
Before the New Year comes at last
And this year bids farewell,
Another chance before it's past
With all its tales to tell.

God grant me that I live to see
The Saviour's smile and joy,
Upon the magic ecstasy
Of every girl and boy.
When gifts get shared because of love
That only Jesus brings,
Behold God's Son who proved enough
He's called The King of Kings!
