Behind my eyes & fine veneer
Life's inches add up
Screaming loud & clear
Like microphone feedback through my ears
Hidden mistakes are cradled & fed
As I lie within what I have made
But when I know & tell myself
All has now been done
All has now been said
That's when my eyes begin to close…
My heartbeat slows…
The feedback muffles & silently goes
Below the surface
Where insects rest legs & fears cease to crawl
Shadows fade into murky walls
To end restless legs down endless halls
Resting laurels drift away
Into morning's gentle shine
Tomorrow sheds a different light
Through the narrow curtain line
That's enough for me to say
I part my old ways with today
Tomorrow sheds a different light
To that & to all
I say good night
