I'll Ask The Stars To Watch Over You
Upon a tender night fair,
Beneath the moon's soft and silver glare,
I made a promise to which Ill hold true,
To guard and cherish you.
While you lie in the cradle's keep,
I'll watch over you as you sleep,
Through dreams and wakings, till dawn's first light,
I'll care for you throughout the night.
When the night is dark and shadows creep,
And fears arise from slumber deep,
My shield shall be your comfort near,
Guarding you from both doubt and fear.
If storms should rage and skies should weep,
If I ever must leave your side to sleep,
Know this, my sister, young and sweet,
When I cannot be by your side,
When earthly bounds our fates divide,
I'll seek the stars in heaven's height,
To shine on you their gentle light.
The stars will dance, the moon will sing,
A lullaby to the nighttime will cling,
And in their glow you'll find my care,
A love eternal always there.
So fear not, little one, my dear,
Though paths may part, I'm always near,
In starlit skies, my love shall be,
A guardian for eternity.
