Much more convincing and clear, than any sermon or full written book. Great poem!
There does seem to be a shortage of justice. Justice seems to be for sale to the highest bidder nowadays though doesn’t it? Good write!
A poignant rendition set aside for sober reflection. An insightful creation written with conviction. Thanks for sharing, Adeline.
if there be no God, the injustice would be justice, the lie would be truth, the wicked would be pious..........! ! ! !
if there be no God our power of thinking wouldn't go so far!
I don't think there has ever been a poem written of this stature, nor as far reaching for the stars. and the mystery that is All, That surrounds us.
If there be no God, Then justice in the heart of man Would be a fake-a senseless fraud; ........../// great thoughtful poem; yeah no honor if there be no God
I used to dream of living in cities I visited. Innsbruck and Prague were favourites, but too far away from the Sea, near where I was born. I would be yearning for the coves and woodlands I knew as a child and especially the Sea. This is a deep feeling we all share and you have expressed it with great style.
woow...excellent..what a imagination...100% true.. i agrre with you.
if there be no God u n I wouldn't be poets as it needs a spiritual heart to know the subtle streams of verse......nice n true
If there be no God then let my tears flow like a river with no end. Such a powerful perspective! God is pleased with you poem!
Dear Adeline, Thank you for all your uniquely thoughtful and kind comments on my poems today. I am a contrary person. If someone says Read in the imperative anything I automatically don't want to do this. I am worse in this way since I retired. But your name is Adeline the same as my maternal great grandmother and amazingly your last name is the maiden name of my paternal grandmother so I have to pay attention. Still, I am contrary, so instead of reading the poems you suggested I meandered over to your poetry well kept and well ordered neighborhood with the vivid flowers and the well ordered (deep green?) elegant fences and read this poem. And wanted to cry because it shows a depth of feeling toward God I cannot help but honor and speaks even of honor itself a word you almost never hear anymore, ANYWHERE. I love this poem. And I intend to read all your poems only, contrary wise, forgive me, when you are least expecting it so it will I hope be a felicitous surprise. I am glad you are a teacher of poetry. You actually know what it is. I have a feeling all your poems are beautiful, beauty in the sense of image and meaning perfectly ordered. Have a wonderful day and thank you again. Mary (yes I know, mary mary quite contrary) Angela Douglas
short and point blank reminder of how fortunate we are for being His special creation.......beautiful...
Thank you, Adeline. You reminded of the main things in our life.
I like how exactly you mention the main things to show the nonsense of not believing in God. Thank you! Would be a fake-a senseless fraud; Each for himself alone would stand- No honor-if there be no God.
Adeline, a great poem and totally true. It today finds itself on the Best Member Poem list at #89. Congratulations.
