If I Were A Poet Poem by Richard Wlodarski

If I Were A Poet

Rating: 3.7

If I were a poet
Soul-less
And you were an artist
Virgin
Would you impregnate me
With creativity

Would your innocence
Soften my callousness
And take my breath away

Would the ice-cold blood
Running through my veins
Melt with your embrace

Would your sanity
Stop my insanity

Would my words of emptiness
Be given new life and meaning
Would you give them essence
Above
Essence

Would your eyes
The window to your soul
Awaken me from hibernation
Would your love be strong enough
To preclude my loneliness

How I so long to be near just you
To suck on your nursing breasts nourishment
For this spiritual dying being

How my tearless eyes thirst
For the river of cleansing
To purge filth corrupting me

How my isolation
Beckons for your warm touch
To make me more humane

How I lust for life
To awaken me
To the love in you

How sorrow floods into suffering...
And anguish drifts into wondrous joy...
And healing flows...circulating...life...

Thanks for the very positive feedback, Howard. And for the rating. I always really appreciate when my fellow poets do both.
