Idolize Motherhood Poem by Bernedita Rosinha Pinto

Idolize Motherhood

Don't wait and look for stars in the night
I am the moon by your side, silent with intrigue,
willing to let you hold me in your arms
until dawn arrives and sunshine falls on my eyes;

don't wait to hear the birds sing melodies
I am the nightingale who can re-create symphony
that will steer passion around every honeybee;

don't wait to walk by the river that is dry
I am the lake of understanding and unity
which can float legacy of intimacy if you so wish;

don't wait for memories to comfort you
I am the eagle that hovers over your mind
to remind you to accept today the promises of tomorrow;

don't wait for the soldiers to give you the courage
I am the wind that blows away cowardice
and spins bundles of bewilderment with grace;

don't wait for the white lotus to bloom in the pond
I am the fountain of wonder and unity, so certain
to charm you and make you idolize my existence;

don't wait for the monsoon rains to inspire you to farm your field
I am so full of compatibility that I can sow your seed inside me
and make you a child who will look either like you or me.
