Ideas Poem by Kevin Patrick II

Ideas

From a seed of a thought that germs into being
They grow, steadily and mercilessly
Both devious and insidious
An idea
A spontaneous spark, ignites from one person
From their words and their writings
Create a fire unstoppable
We then shape them and contort them into
A thousand variations and
Endless mutations
spreading, like a wildfire around the world
From one man, to another, then another
And another, endless reactions
Rapidly metastasizing like a never ending virus
growing inside of every mind exposed
Creating the world they see
Religions, Nations, philosophies and all ideologies
Beliefs becoming creeds and testaments
That turn into weeds for reason
The most dangerous weapon, is not a sword
A gun or a bomb, its from the mind
ricochets around the world
A person can die and become forgotten
Buried under the weight of time
But ideas don't die
They percolate into constant change
Becoming immutable substance
out of ourselves
from ex nihilo
Into glorious fiat lux

Ideas are the immortal virus of thoughts
That shapes the universe into us
