I take you with me, wherever I go
I wonder, did you realise?
and I share with you the beauty,
using but one pair of eyes.

You are only rarely near to me
but my need for you is great, my dear, so I take you with me wherever I go
and talk to you, wishing that you could hear.

Yesterday you walked with me
and together we visited the local park
we fed the ducks and giggled at their antics
and did not leave until it was turning dark.

You were not with me yesterday
of that I was only too well aware,
I could only pretend to tell you about
all the beauty that I wished to share.

That is why I phoned your mobile phone
and left messages for you to hear,
I hoped that when you played them back
for a moment you would feel that you were near.
