This is true, life's magic is all around us in our present observations, past memories and future dreams. But we are the keepers of our own magic. Don't lose that wand! Raise it high to the stars! A vert beautiful, meaningful and poignant write, Susan.

A deeply poignant, touching and inspiring poem. When we are confronted with things in life that we feel we are like in between huge stones ready to hit us, our will to survive is tested. We have to stand and conquer the darkness confronting us. With hope we are given that renewed strength to carry on and live and taste the wonders of existence.

I too have been waking up after fitful sleep since the last two weeks with painful memories haunting me as I lost my sister! Though she was aged, her death was sudden and I didn't have the mood to do anything! But now slowly I am trying to bury myself in the beauty of things around me! This beautiful poem speaks directly to me! Thanks Susan!

I am so sorry to hear that your sister has passed on- -all those memories of your years together since birth are painful now but oh what comfort they will bring you as time goes on. Valsa, dear, it is your habit and will be your redemption to become one with the beauty that lies all around you. Bless you

and I saw skyblue stretching from horizon to horizon in dawn's birthing glow and I saw sparrows flitting daintily from bush to bush by twos and threes and I saw the morning breeze arrive and begin to trifle with the leaves of the trees ..........................and I wondered ..................What would happen if I refuse ...........haunting expression with philosophical views. Beautiful poem shared that anybody would aopreciate.

A lovely inspiring poem to those who have lost a bit of magic from their life. When we truly open our eyes we will see much to appreciate. Especially embracing nature can be so healing...a walk along a beach...a native forest...or a ride in a hot air balloon in that big blue sky can do wonders.

I will and do embrace a lot of things about nature but NIX on the hot air balloon ride though I suppose that if I survived the ride I certainly would appreciate the dickens out of life! ! ! ! ! The farthest I get from the ground is atop a horse- - ;)

I'm not a church goer but by God it's words such as these that would inspire people. So poignantly beautiful. One of my favourites Susan. The beauty of the world can make us sad, beauty that one day pass. There is room in your heart for everything the sadness, the joy. I feel your beautiful childlike sense of wonder in the background. With your mystic soul you will never lose the ability to see the magic Susan. Duende is alive in the very fabric of your bones.

Definition of duende: : the power to attract through personal magnetism and charm. I had to go look up that word! ! WoW! What a lovely thing to say to another human being! Thank you, it put a bit of perk into my day. I hope this poem did the same for you, Norah. I think it may have cuz you are naturally attracted to the wonder in nature as witnessed by your own poetry.. Blessings shower down on you, Norah!

Susan, Wow! This is really amazing. You are talking about an act of will, a decision. I can't remember who said it, but it was something like (and I paraphrase) - Life Begins When we understand we have options I don't think everything closes down forever if on a given day a decision is made that takes us in one direction over the other. A very profound poem. A 10 for sure.

That ability to see the magic is a given. There is no question of losing it. Neither do you have to refuse to lose it. BTW, did you really mean to say what will happen if I refuse to lose? Perhaps you meant what will happen if I lose... only. I am a little confused reading that part. You are a very gifted poet and I loved the poem. (10)

Thank you for the comment and the 10 and the question- - to answer your question, in my life's present circumstances, it makes sense to refuse to lose...as in an act of will... because when you find yourself in the middle of a swamp of uncontrollable events that put you in a state of fear, you have to will yourself to still see the good things and enjoy them... I hope that answered your question without posting the specifics... I reread my answer and it's as clear as mud but I swear I don't know how to make it clearer without going into specifics.... maybe if you imagined the worst possible scenario for yourself in which you have no power to change what is happening but only have the power to endure till it is over and imagine how dark that your life would be and how hard it would be to see the magic in life, feel the joy in the little things? That is when you must choose to exert your will..... I hope that helped
