I Will Not Bow Poem by Skylark Woodrow

I am strong,
Determined,
Unbreakable,
A force to be reckoned with,
A power just coming into its own;
And I'm going to set the world on fire.
I'm going to turn this world on its head;
Make people question the reality they think they know.
I will defy all logic and reason as they know it.
Crumble the status quo.
Overthrow all the bonds of society.

I will not be told that I can't be who I am,
And I will not tolerate opposition from those who think I should be something I'm not.
I will not comply to the rules and regulations that try to bind me and extinguish the fires within me.
I will not bow to the whims of society for society's sake.
Who are they that they should be given dominion over lives that are not their own?
Who are they that they deserve blind obedience from us in almost every aspect of our lives?
I say they are nothing,
Nobody,
And they have no power over me.
