I Went To Church Poem by Phil Soar

I Went To Church

I went to church at the weekend
I took a pew
Knelt on the cushion
Prayed
Alone, for there was no service that day
The Vicar was travelling
Somewhere Holy
So I said a prayer for him
Even though it was my first visit
I felt at home
Although I am not a beliver
For those few minutes I was lost
My worries left me
For I was talking to myself
Not God
Or Jesus
I just went to the church
Because I needed to talk to someone
Not knowing if anyone was listening
I spilled my heart out
And then I felt better
I left the pew and returned back my crazy life

I went to church at the weekend
