I Was. I Am. I Will Be. Poem by Rodney Dufault

I Was. I Am. I Will Be.

I was a man in so much pain I thought I could never love.
I am a man who feels again the things I dreamed ever of.
I will be a man who will hold your hand and help you rise above.
I was, I am, and I will be your friend and never give you up.

I was a man who was on a great quest of self abolishment.
I am a man now on a journey to kick all of my knowledge in.
I will be a man who leaves this world in much astonishment.
I was, I am, and I will be a man with many accomplishments.

I was a man I thought could not be introduced into society.
I am a man who now has crippling panic attacks, and anxiety.
I will be a man to conquer these even with people trying me.
I was, I am, and I will be the truth so that there can be no denying me.

I was a young man, dying but with my whole life ahead of me.
I am a middle-aged man trying to take care of my head and my family.
I will be an old man not denying I still wish death upon my enemies.
I was, I am, and I will be a human being trying to sever some of these memories.

I was. I am. I will be, because my plan is 'til it kills me.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Just a sad poem when I thought I would not be able to function correctly when I hit the streets after spending 18 years in Hell.
