I Want To Thank You Poem by Clarisse Austria

I Want To Thank You

I want to thank you
For sleeping beside me,
Even though it wasn't me
You wished to see
Before closing your eyes.
Even though it wasn't me
You longed to see
When you opened them.

I want to thank you
For letting me hug you from behind,
Even though it wasn't my warmth
You truly desired.

I want to thank you
For kissing me back
When it's not me
in your mind

I want to thank you
For coming home,
Even when you found
A new home elsewhere.

I want to thank you
For leaving,
For breaking your vows.
Now I don't need to pretend
That I didn't notice
Your love drifting away.
