I Wander Back To A Place I No Longer Have Troy New York

I wander back to a place I no longer have
To a place no longer my home
I grew up there
And it is not mine any more
The people I most loved in childhood
Lie in its ground
And I will not return
Will never return again
Not even to put a stone on their graves
The Hudson River still flows near the house I grew up in
My father sings on the truck with my brother and me
They are not here anymore
I alone tell this in sadness
From a world far away
Toward the end of my life.
