I've Poem by Raj Dronamraju

I've

I've been the phone number written on the back of a matchbook
I've sat in your car while you zipped into the market for a loaf of bread
I've taken it all and had nothing to show afterwards
I've had nothing to show but have many accomplishments to point to

I hope the audience understands that to possess and be possessed have different meanings
I've been married and I've been carried
Tamed the iceberg and let the lion walk all over me
Manicured claws left little grooves in skin

I've been the inspiration to someone who didn't tell me until 20 years later
I've been the white hot hate put into someone who knew me's violence towards a me in effigy
I've been a surrogate for happiness, for pleasure
I've been not really me and in that moment was held up as a good example

What a fine upstanding citizen is Dickie George
He never goes out by himself and he sleeps under the stairway in the cubby where the vacuum cleaner's kept
After peak consuming of minimum fuel, he looks in the mirror and sees someone else
