I Understand What Has Unfolded Poem by Kellyn, A Grau

I Understand What Has Unfolded

Slip through the cracks of my mangled mind
Push to the depths of what makes time
So I’ve been hurt a good time or two
I’ve learned from the past and gotten a little clue
The days still go on and so do the years
The tears have fallen night after night
Yet I’m still standing tall and clasping my heart
I’ve learned to cope with the difficulties of love
Learn to fix them and tape them all up
To pluck a few thorns from this soul
Is something well worth not giving up on
So forgive me if I’ve learned to speak my mind
Forgive me if I follow what my heart wants
I may not have all the answers right now
But at least I can try
So another year will unfold
I’ll be the same as I’ve always been
However, I’m sure you will change
Why is it as time passes me by
My mind continues to stay unchanged
My body unfazed by the time grasping at it
Gravity doesn’t seem like such an enemy yet
I know I’ll be contradicting my self soon enough
Yet I can’t help but enjoy the simple things
A little hug, a soft I love you
Perhaps that just too much to ask
I can’t give you an answer for that
Each of us holds our on opinions on life
Are own set of values and morals
Some stronger than others
Some blinded by love
Who can tell what we’ll be in time
I can’t predict the feature, can you
So unfold my history
Place all the events in front of me
Let’s compare and contrast
How well I can cope and how you can’t
I can hide the pain and you expel it
Is it wrong to have a positive feeling on life
Perhaps my patients is beyond that of a saints
I can’t help if I’m understanding
Please forgive me
