I Stood At Mount Calvary Poem by Gary James Smith

I Stood At Mount Calvary

I Stood At Mount Calvary

I stood at Mount Calvary
And gazed upon my Lord
Knowing my sins...yes every last one
That He had...an absolute record
And I was smitten in my heart
Lord...to me...be merciful
And I received Him there by faith
And my God...was merciful!

Forgiveness came in like a flood
As I felt its cleansing power
I knew inside I was transformed
Immediately! ...that very same hour
And time took on eternity
For death had lost its grip
I knew the freedom of my lord
The reality of His Lordship

His Spirit witnessed wondrously
And twinned Itself with mine
Me... a recipient... of His amazing grace
From now until the end of time
And praise began it's new beginning
Thank you...thank you Lord
For the revealing of yourself to me
In the pages of the Word

Faith told hold with victory
I believed...I became God's son
My heirship found its security
By trusting in the Crucified One
Fitted now for my heavenly Home
Clothed in God's righteousness
Praise God for His so great Salvation
Through whom the world can be blessed!

Hallelujah what a Saviour!
