In the coffin lay your body silent and still
As with wax, sealed were your eyes
Bared of all passion, pain and strain
You were at rest, tranquil was your face

a GREAT poem, Valsa. i read Brian Johnston's comment with care, knowing something about him. i disagree with his use of pale, if he means to say that your memory or poem of your mother is pale/faint. your memory and poem is vivid, a word for which i found all of these synonyms, many of which i feel apply here: graphic, evocative, realistic, lifelike, faithful, authentic, clear, detailed, lucid, eloquent, striking, arresting, impressive, colorful, rich, picturesque, dramatic, lively, stimulating, interesting, fascinating, scintillating; memorable, powerful, stirring, moving, telling, haunting this is a poem for MyPoemList. beautiful. and the rhyming is well done! i wonder when you wrote it. hmm? some of my favorite parts: Tears trickled from our eyes like streams of blood We hoped time would heal the gash quite soon But with every passing day you're sorely missed Especially when our life goes out of tune ......................... i really can NOT relate to your sentiment well; i loved my mom, but i'm just not very sentimental (or romantic) . but you wrote orphaned, so i wonder if your mom died while you were still a child; another poem about your mom helps reinforce that idea i think. my mom to age 90. Rambling through the avenues of vanished years We remember your sweet assurance, tender care n' love ............ [some would say to write 'n' for and i think.] Your engulfing presence, my tiny world once filled With that old bygone past how I was content A treasure of sweet memories, still I do hold Now your eternal absence, how deeply I lament......... including content/lament. nice. i also liked your other rhymes, but when i noticed a lack of rhymes in the first two stanzas, it did NOT bother me at all. profound words, needing no rhymes. thanks for sharing. :) bri
Such a wonderful tribute, really. She must have been a great mother indeed, to have created such a great poet...
excellent...am speechless......falling short of words..........Mom is as it is a very sensitive topic for me, and this poem straightaway captured my heart.........
A Beautiful poem with many captivating lines, coming from deep, loving memories of mother. Very true said, everything is going to be in our sweet memories. Beautiful flow of words. Loved it. ++++10
Very beautiful poem. Oh mother, still I remember and this is the great tribute. In my memory in my room you come and I envision this brings new feelings to live life. Beautiful, beautiful and beautiful poem shared.
Oh Mother, Our love for you is inscribed deep in our hearts Mother's love and love for mother are always deeply etched. A poem full of deep feelings finely brought out.
A nice gratitude to your mother. The creative beauty, and the the role of a mother as the best guide of socialization of a child and her sacrifices and protection that she provides bring her very close to God. Any poem on a mother is great and when it's a poem by Valsa it's greater than the greatest! ...................10
The pale remembrance of a missing loved one is such a poor substitute for the real thing it seems. But still i feel compensated myself in my belief that at least my parents no longer misunderstand me and in God's presence can honor even the misguided love that I hold in my heart for them, God's Grace covering all of us. So at least half of the problem exists no more. A lovely poem that honors your mother and yourself. Is your father still alive? Is there a poem that shares your love for him as well. I know that in my own heart that is the more difficult write!
We never let go of what we cherish most.......May she rest in perfect peace! The versatile prof.!
Valsa, this here is such a moving and emotional poem, and a great tribute to your much loved mother, which made me think of how very much I miss mine. She was my everything, and was gone too soon. Your love comes through so very strong and true, another great poem written by you. Thank you.
The head may forget but the heart will ever remember the deeper delights of by-gone days of a mother's devotion, unfailing, unbounded, her loving caresses, her smiles and her tears can never be erased till the last......Valsa......a very poignant write...10/10
Oh Mother, though you are dead and gone Our love for you is inscribed deep in our hearts Which nothing can erase or erode and will last Until finally life from our body silently departs! No substitute of mother! ................10
Well! Well! You did it again with your pen. What a great tribute to any mother, by any child, be it a son or a daughter. Every word in this poem carries a meaning and that is a universal one in my opinion. Simple diction and pertinent paraphrastic metaphors you used and its rhythmic wording make the poem a beauty. Thanks for sharing.87811

Bereavement is a deep, sad wound, almost impossible to heal. At times of joy or in sorrow, we are haunted by the thoughts of those loved ones who have left us. A highly emotional poem. Let us hope, one day, we shall be able to meet our dear and near ones in another realm.
Rambling through the avenues of vanished years sometimes we envision mother's coming into mind and memory. This poem is very beautifully and emotionally penned and this is definitely an excellent poem shared here...10
