I See The Light Poem by Adam Smitherman

I See The Light

I see the light ahead of me.
Pulling me closer.
I try, I try my hardest.
But it's insane to try and prolong it.
I see the light.
I see the light.

Have you ever thought that this was the end?
Putting on a smile and playing pretend?
Living life without a fear.
Following a single tear.
How did we let this get so far?
Nothing like this has ever been so hard.
I pull the covers up above my head.
Trying to drown out the screaming in my head.
Better be now, cause tomorrow I'll be dead.

I see the light ahead of me.
Pulling me closer.
I try, I try my hardest.
But it's insane to try and prolong it.
I see the light.
I see the light.

They say tomorrow will be a brighter day.
But how can we listen to a word you say?
You talk about change.
You grab a knife.
Hold it up high and you take more life's.
How many people have to die?
When can we swallow our pride?
I don't wanna sit and hide.
I'm gonna fight and stand for what is right.
No more blood upon your hands.
This whole world is in the peoples hands.

I see the light ahead of me.
Pulling me closer.
I try, I try my hardest.
But it's insane to try and prolong it.
I see the light.
I see the light.

Tomorrow will be better!
The sun is out!
No more gloomy weather!
The world on my shoulders!
You push me!
I'm stronger!
You hit me!
No bother!
Please believe we will not falter!

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
The story on this one is about the world and how everything is about pushing everyone around. The promises people make and never fulfill. The government and how it's corrupted. In the chorus when it says 'I See The Light' that means the light at the end of the tunnel and how hard you fight to get to it but the tunnel keeps getting longer(the world) .
